Introduction:

Island Peak / Imjatse Himal located on high Khumbu valley within beautiful and scenic Imjatse valley, the word Island peak due to its unique location in the midst of Imjatse valley as well known as Imjatse peak.

Island Peak / Imjatse Himal stand high at Island peak stands at 6,189m/ 20,305 ft high, a broken ridge and a flank of close Mt. Lhotse caused by snow, strong winds and avalanches some hundreds of years back.

We have listed the climbing grade of Island Peak or Imjatse Himal as PD + which means ‘Per Diffcule’ used worldwide on this alpine climbing classification from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System, the grade means climb leads to long snow line, moraine and glaciers with some technical effort.

Island Peak / Imjatse Himal leads to straightforward climb to its summit with few technical sections to tackle, where our expert Sherpa Climbing guides will support you all the way to the top and back safely down.

Island Peak / Imjatse Himal adventure leads you towards Nepal Mid Eastern Himalaya range within high, scenic Khumbu valley hidden within world highest mountains Mt. Everest and
Mt. Lhotse and close to world’s 5th highest Mt. Makalu in the east direction.

Our adventure on Island Peak/ Imjatse Himal climb a great combination with visit of Everest base camp and climb of rocky hill top Kalapathar at 5,545 m which provides you to acclimatize well before our ascent on the summit of Island Peak at 6,189m high.

The climb is well planned providing you with much rest and spare day for acclimatization and practice climb, where our professional mountain guide will offer you instruction and information regarding the climb and trek to Island Peak / Imjatse Himal.

Island Peak / Imjatse Himal adventure starts with short and scenic flight in a small aircraft to reach at Lukla from Kathmandu, from here our actual trek begins through nice and lovely Sherpa farm villages with well tended farm terraces following raging Dudh Kosi upstream.

After walking past Phakding and Monjo villages reaching high colorful Namche Bazaar, at Namche with rest days for short hike and excursion in the shade of Amadablam and Everest with other adjoining peaks.

Namche Bazaar where colorful and busy Saturday Market takes place once a week, from here our adventure continues higher above to reach at beautiful spot within Thyangboche Monastery.

A lovely place with immense views of snow capped peaks with time to visit its interesting monastery, where many climbers also takes blessing from a high priest and Lama for safe and successful climb on Everest and other high peaks around Khumbu region.

From here onwards green vegetation and tree lines drops for wild and scenic arid country as the walk leads past Pangboche-Pheriche and to Lobuche, as the adventure gets closer to our destination to Island Peak, after visiting Everest Base Camp and climb of Kalapathar at above 5,545 m with exceptional views of giant peaks with Mt. Everest a close distance.

Finally walk leads away from the main tracks reaching Imjatse valley at Island base camp for exciting climb to the summit on top Island Peak / Imjatse Himal, offers you with incredible scenery.

After a strenuous climb and marvelous time around high Imjatse valley, return journey leads back to Lukla with last overnight at Khumbu, where a morning scenic flight brings you to Kathmandu with memorable adventure of a lifetime experience on Island Peak / Imjatse Himal climb.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01:            Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Day 02:            In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Island Peak Climb.
Day 03:            Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m – 04 hrs.
Day 04:            Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m – 05 hrs.
Day 05:            Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
Day 06:            Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m – 05hrs.
Day 07:            Trek to Pheriche 4,240 m – 05hrs.
Day 08:            Trek to Lobuche 4,930 m – 05 hrs.
Day 09:            Trek to Gorakshep 5,180 m, and walk to Everest Base Camp 5,364 m – 06 hrs.
Day 10:            Climb on top Kalapathar 5,545 m and walk to Chhukung 4,730 m – 06 hrs.
Day 11:            Trek to Island Peak Base Camp – 4,970 m – 04 hrs.
Day 12:            At Base Camp rest day and preparation for the climb.
Day 13:            Trek and climb to High Camp 5,400 m – 03 hrs.
Day 14:            Climbing day on top Island Peak and descend to base camp.
Day 15:            Contingency or spare day in case of unfavorable weather.
Day 16:            Clean up the base camp and packing for return journey.
Day 17:            Trek to Dingboche 4,360 m – 06 hrs.
Day 18:            Trek to Thyangboche – 05 hrs.
Day 19:            Trek to Monjo 2,860 m – 06 hrs.
Day 20:            Trek to Lukla – 04 hrs.
Day 21:            Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 22:            In Kathmandu rest and spare days for individual activities
Day 23:            International departure for home ward bound.
